We Like to Get Along...

Yes, we have sober fun, share kindred spirits, and support each other's recovery. And to ensure everyone's home life stays happy and healthy, we cooperate and keep a few agreements with the house and each other:

  1. Since this is a sober living, residents must abstain from all mind-altering substances, no exceptions. House sobriety is important, and we conduct mandatory drug testing twice each week.

  2. Our sober living has zero tolerance for theft, violence, threats of violence, intimidation and bullying (who wants to live with any of that?).

  3. For the first 30 days, resident curfew is 11:00 p.m., but after 30 days of responsible behavior, it can be extended to midnight.

  4. No sexual contact, or inappropriate conduct of a sexual nature, on property. This includes guests.

  5. Residents respect each other's privacy and do not enter another resident's bedroom.

  6. Daily household chores are completed by 12 noon, except evening chores, which are completed by 9:00 p.m.

  7. Amethyst Landing cares about your long-term recovery: Residents work an active recovery program and attend at least three abstinence-based recovery meetings (AA/NA/SMART, etc.) per week, not including IOP or personal therapists.

  8. Every resident should find a sponsor within 30 days of moving into sober living.

  9. Visiting hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Guests are welcome to stay a maximum of two hours per day, must stay in common areas, and should maintain respectable volumes and appropriate behavior.

  10. Bigotry will not be tolerated. Our sober living is a safe place for everyone, regardless of sexual orientation.

  11. Residents make their bed and ensure their bedroom is clean, swept, and clothes/belongings neatly put away daily.

  12. Kitchen cleanliness is important. Please wash, dry and put away dishes immediately after use.

  13. Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Residents are always required to maintain a respectable volume; however, please be extra courteous between 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.

  14. We like our neighbors, and they like us. Quiet hours outside begin at 9:00 p.m., and residents, and their guests, are never to loiter in front of the house and/or disturb the neighbors at any time.

  15. Keep the volume of TV or music in your room low enough so it does not disturb others, and use earbuds to listen to music in the common areas.

  16. Pest Control - No food, food storage, or eating in bedrooms.

  17. Residents should not participate in another community member’s disease by keeping secrets about drug or alcohol use, rule violations, or destructive behavior, and must notify the House Manager if he suspects any of the above.

  18. Never intercept or tamper with another person’s mail.

  19. Residents in good standing may be allowed two (2) overnight passes per week after 30 days. Overnight slips must be submitted at least 24 hours in advance and require House Manager approval. Residents must pre-arrange for another resident to do their chore while they are away.

  20. Smoking is allowed in the designated smoking area located in the backyard. Please do not smoke on the front porch, in front of the house, or in front of the adjoining neighbors’ properties. No vaping inside the house.

  21. We respect each other's anonymity. The identities of those who reside at Amethyst Landing are confidential.

  22. Recovery, emotional well-being, and being productive go hand-in-hand. Therefore, residents are required to spend at least 25 combined hours a week engaged in the following activities: Work, School, IOP, and/or Volunteering. Otherwise, the resident should be off the property from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

  23. Let's start the day on a good foot. Please be awake, out of bed, with bed made, by 8:00 a.m., except residents who worked past 12:00 a.m. the night before.

  24. No hanging out or watching TV in the common areas from midnight to 8:00 a.m. Residents should be in their rooms by midnight.

  25. No TV watching in the common areas between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
